North-West Golden Bay is at the top of New Zealand's South Island and close to Farewell Spit which is a world heritage wildlife sanctuary. It is also the gateway to the Heaphy Track and the Kahurangi National Park. Wonderful scenery, great beaches and unspoilt countryside are in abundance. Collingwood is a township of 250 people at the mouth of the Aorere River. It was a gold town in its boom years and is now a small settlement with great fishing, whitebaiting, tramping and artwork. Golden Bay is a haven for artists and has a superb arts trail - check out the local Guide to Artists of Golden Bay. Collingwood is 140 kms from Nelson by road and a direct air flight and 26 km drive from Wellington.
Portable treasures on sale include works from hand-made paper, made by Adrian Maloney. Adrian has always enjoyed making and creating. When he retired from teaching, he built a rammed earth house, continued with his life long interest in making furniture and recently took up paper making. He uses recycled paper and natural plant material from the garden to produce the wonderful hand-made paper products.
